Castle Acre is a cute village with a good cafe - Wittles. The Priory is beautiful and you can take a walk around the outside down to a stream and a ford - great swimming area for kids and dogs. There is also a walk we love that starts in Castle Acre - google 'circular walk castle acre' there is a long and a short version.
See the historic English Heritage property, and stop by Castle Acre Castle ruins on the other side of the village.
The village of Castle Acre lies on the River Nar, 15 miles east of King’s Lynn. It is best known today for the twin ruins of Castle Acre Castle and Castle Acre Priory, which lie immediately to the east and west of the village respectively. Both were founded soon after the Norman Conquest by William de Warenne the first Earl of Surrey.
