I walk down California ave down the incline to the beach, order a iced tea and just read my book under one of the unmbrellas on the sand here all the time:)

Rent a bike, a tag-a-long, tricycle, rollerblade, boogie board, umbrellas, mats, beach chairs and practically anything you need to cruise the beach or just chill out in Santa Monica.
