Essex is a historic harbor and charming colonial town located on the Connecticut River and home to the Connecticut River Museum, the Griswold Inn and The Ivoryton Playhouse.

2.5 Hour train tour along the Connecticut River. Super pretty.

The steam train is a must-do and Main Street in Essex is a quaint area with shopping, food, and some great views of the marinas.

Historic shipbuilding town of Essex. Stroll Main Street, visit shops, have a bite to eat, walk to the river and the boats. Then take a ride on the Essex Steam Train and Riverboat on the Connecticut River. A perfect day.
